Apex Magazine Issue 80 Preview

We’re starting 2016 off with a bang with an epic issue made possible by the success of our subscription drive. In Apex Magazine Issue 80, we have original short fiction by Ursula Vernon, Lettie Prell, Jennifer Hyke, Chikodili Emelumadu, and Carrie Cuinn. Our poetry is by Samson Stormcrow Hayes, Zebulon Huset, Anton Rose, Greg Leunig, Annie Neugebauer, J.J. Hunter, and our own poetry editor Bianca Spriggs. In our nonfiction article, Lucy A. Snyder explores racism in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.

We will also have four interviews for you next month. Andrea Johnson talks about stories, writing, and more with authors Lettie Prell, Chikodili Emelumadu, and Ursula Vernon, and Russell Dickerson discusses art and technique with our cover artist Matt Davis. There will be two reprints in Issue 80. A short story titled “Riding Atlas” by Ferrett Steinmetz and a novelette by Dave Creek called “Kutraya’s Skies.” Plus, we have an excerpt from Damien Angelica Walters’ upcoming novel Paper Tigers.

Finally, as if all of that were not spectacular enough, through our subscription drive and the amazing support of our readers, we will publishing “The Tomato Thief” by Ursula Vernon in January!

An amazing issue and it is all coming to you next month in Apex Magazine!
