Apex Magazine Seeks Podcast Producer

It is with a heavy heart that we announce our podcast producer Mahvesh Murad will be stepping down from her duties after the August episode. Under her leadership the podcast’s listener numbers have tripled. She’s a wonderful and talented producer, and we wish her the best!

This means that Apex Magazine is in the market for a new podcast producer. Our podcast comes out once a month and includes short promotional content and a narration of a short story up to 7500 words.

Duties include:

  1. Edit together the front and end bumpers to the short story narration.
  2. Narrate the promotional copy and introduce the story.
  3. Provide a file ready for upload to our audio distributor.
  4. Assist with finding quality narrators who use high-quality recording equipment.
  5. Be able to put together an episode with a lead time of 1 to 2 weeks.

Beginning in September, we hope to go to a rotating narrator system to better match the reader with the content. This means that the producer will not be expected to narrate. (In fact, we hope to have Mahvesh as a frequent narrator!)

Pay is $100 for what should be a few hours of work a month.

Apex Magazine welcomes and encourages applicants from qualified candidates of all race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, and military status.

If you’re interested in the position, please contact jason@apex-magazine.com. We will accept applicants until next Friday night (July 14th).

Once we’ve settled on a producer, we will open to narration queries soon after.
