Apex Magazine is an online science fiction and fantasy magazine edited by three-time Hugo Award-nominated editor Jason Sizemore. Apex launched more than a decade ago, and since then it has published some of the most original and thought-provoking fiction from both well-known professionals and trail-blazing newcomers, including: Brian Keene, Christopher Barzak, E. Lily Yu, Ursula Vernon, Mary Robinette Kowal, Rachel Swirsky, Douglas F. Warrick, Catherine M. Valente, Sarah Pinsker, Genevieve Valentine, Theodora Goss, Jeff VanderMeer, and many more.
Apex also includes award-nominated poetry, interviews, nonfiction work, and podcasts. Our work is known for its ability to bring the strange and twisted to life.
Apex gives our readers access to their favorite short form writers and asks them the questions that every reader wants answers to. A science fiction and fantasy magazine with a bit of horror, Apex has something to satisfy every weird and fantastic craving.
Apex Magazine has also partnered with Redshift Audio Productions (RAP). We will be joining forces with them to bring readers and listeners audio dramas of some of our most popular stories. RAP has been producing podcasts for more than eight years now, and has produced more than 1,500 episodes.
Our monthly publication schedule consists of several pieces of fiction as well as several pieces of poetry, nonfiction, and a podcast of one of our favorite stories of the issue. Every issue is posted in fragments throughout the month and a full eBook is placed on sale the first Tuesday of every month.
